I am in love with all things Mondrian at the moment. A few months ago, we designed a funky wallcovering which we used in one of our bedrooms - "Abstract No.1" is both linear and softly curvacious with a little homage to Mondrain in a fusion of acid yellow and black. It looks super cool and tactile printed onto the textured wallpaper stock we use.
Here, I have designed a room scheme using the wallcovering as a starting point. The concept is fresh, up-beat, zingy and über cool. Use the wallpaper on a focal wall and paint the remaining walls in a deep grey for a really chic, atmospheric look. Don't be scared of using such strong colours - I promise you they add the most dramatic and uplifting look! A super soft, shag pile carpet in the softest silvery grey adds luxury underfoot and lifts the tone of the room. Glossy low level white storage and Cappellini's Homage to Mondrian cabinet provide the storage. Zannotta's Aster clothes stand continues the black linear design and the ever fablous Spun light adds yet more chic. Lift the scheme with an unexpected twist in the form of Moooi's Smoking Chair and Fornasetti's vase adds a dramatic splash of scarlet.
