As we prepare for the launch of our brand new Colliss & Quinton website this month, we showcase a bit of Baroque... and some sensational serenity. Our "Serenity" Tall Boy cabinet and Side Table are hand made, wrapped in our exquisite wallpaper and oozes glamour. With their glossy black tops and curvaceously turned legs, we wrap fabric wallpaper around all sides so the design continues around the furniture creating stunning views from all angles.
Our Serenity wallpaper features a section of a portrait by Rembrandt (Rijksmuseum) and is possibly that of Maria Trip, daughter of a wealthy Amsterdam merchant... or is it? No one knows who she is for certain, and that mystique, combined with her elegant and gentle calmness is intriguing. We have taken a section of the portrait and focussed on her subtle serenity and overlaid it with layers of delicate lace pattern work and floral still life.
