I have an absolute passion for churches - something about the sense of history, the architecture and moods they evoke when you step inside. Not many people know that I ring the bells in our local village church and recently there was talk about removing the beautiful pews in favour of chairs. Thankfully the idea was quashed and I can only image what type of chair would have replaced the ancient old pews. Now, had wanted to replace them with my beloved Verner Panton chairs, as used in this truly amazing church interior, it may have been a different story!
The interior of St. Bartholomew's Church in Eastern Bohemia, designed a few years back by Qubus Studio, combine all the elements that make my heart sing. Baroque architecture, original decor, aged patina fused with contemporary design. The Panton chairs, customised with the crucifix are an absolute triumph. Crystal chandeliers and Persian carpets complete the look.
This awe inspiring creation is my kind of church!
