French-born Laure Prouvost has become the 29th artist to be given the prestigious Turner Prize, this year awarded for her video about a made-up grandfather inspired by Kurt Schwitters.
I know nothing about Laure, but the little I have seen of her work, I find rather intriguing, exciting and a little surreal.
We had our eyes opened to modern art through a friend who is sadly with us no longer... he wanted modern art to be accessible and available to everyone. The work he curated at Modern Art Oxford was imaginitive and evocotive, often vast in scale, sometimes quite disturbing but always inspiring and enriching... he really did open our eyes.
I am looking forward to finding out more about Laure Prouvost.
